15 September 2023
Recognising the need and importance of timely international cooperation in the fast developing domain of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), experts of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) convened on 15 September for a one-day workshop to exchange experience and insights on the subject. The event was attended to by close to 30 participants from EASA, MOLIT, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology (KIAST).
During the workshop in Incheon, ROK, the experts discussed topics such as UAM policy and regulatory framework, Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) airworthiness regulation, and future rulemaking prospects. It was concluded that this exchange provided a valuable foundation for future activities under the EU-ROK Aviation Partnership Project (APP), to deepen the discussion between both authorities, including the perspectives of industry, on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and UAS Traffic Management (UTM).
