On 19 and 21 March, a Korean delegation led by MOLIT visited Europe to exchange on the subject of the continued airworthiness of the type design in Part 21 (Design Organisation Approval (DOA) and Production Organisation Approval (POA)). This activity, which was organised under the framework of the EU-ROK Aviation Partnership Project (APP), aimed at sharing experience and best practices in this area contributing to greater harmonisation of processes which in turn increases global safety levels.

The first day of the visit took place in Marignane (France) at the premises of Airbus Helicopters, where first the legal framework for continued airworthiness (CAW) activities and the complete process of CAW of type design in Europe was presented, as well as the CAW process in ROK. Perspectives from an operator and manufacturer were also shared, and the day concluded with a visit to Airbus Helicopters’ Final Assembly Line and Aviation Safety Center. The second day of the visit was reserved for discussions at the headquarters of EASA in Cologne (Germany), where topics such as the role of PO in CAW, occurrence reporting requirements and the EASA Mandatory Continuing Airworthiness Information (MCAI) and Safety Information system were discussed.

The contributing presenters to this event were from EASA, MOLIT, Airbus Helicopters, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and RTE.
