Workshop on Digital Aeronautical Information Management (DAIM)
29 - 31 May 2024
With the paradigm for processing aeronautical information globally shifting towards a digitised aeronautical information system, European and Republic of Korea (ROK) stakeholders held a workshop in Seoul from 29 to 31 May to review state of development and implementation of Digital Aeronautical Information Management (DAIM) in their respective regions. This event was organised by the EU-ROK Aviation Partnership Project (APP) with over 40 representatives from authorities, industry and research institutions in attendance.
On the first day, the current landscapes of Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) in Europe and ROK were presented, as well as the more detailed subjects of data quality considerations and centralised and harmonised AIM. The second day was dedicated to AIM digitalisation including digital data sets and transition to System Wide Information Management (SWIM) based on these, and on the final day the discussion was focused on the way forward with AIM SWIM services.
Presenters in this event were from the Air Traffic Management Office (ATMO) of the ROK Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), EUROCONTROL, SESAR Deployment Manager, the French Air Navigation Service Provider (DSNA), and Korea Airports Corporation (KAC). It was concluded that DAIM involves a long transition where continued collaboration is highly beneficial, and that exchanges in the future are welcomed to support its development in ROK and Europe.
